In both Reader's Workshop and Explorations we started new stations which all have a focus on our theme of Canada. In Explorations, one of the stations is to build a settlement using Lincoln Logs and plastercine. Another one is Canadian Animals and we are to create their habitat. We also have some cool Canadian puzzles. As you can see we have some very creative students.
We are learning about each Canadian province and territory as we 'drive' across Canada. Today we were in Saskatchewan! As many of you know each day we work with the special helpers name to find out how many words we can make from their names. We are having a friendly competition with Div. 6 and today we pulled ahead with Morgan's name when we found 104 words. We couldn't believe how many we found especially when we had originally stopped counting at 64! I am very impressed with how the students are able to challenge themselves to find so many words!
The Book Fair is on in the libray at Fairview, we were excited today after lunch when we saw everything that they have for sale. The fair is on next week as well. Jordan was our first #1 Canadian and did a great job of his presentation.
This last picture is what we created out of Straws and Connects - Ms. Rowledge-Toscani says we have some future architects and engineers in our class!
